- On Saturday, Feb. 26, Leander police responded to a suspicious person report at the 2800 block of S. Bagdad Road, the caller said the individual was carrying a rifle and possibly casing a business for robbery. The suspects fled the scene and led police on a chase, which ended in the suspect's vehicle crashing into a gate at American Trail and S. Bagdad Road and the suspects fleeing into the neighborhood. The driver, 21-year-old Dylan Gleason, and the passenger, 19-year-old Zachary Cortes, were located in Cedar Park and arrested by Leander police for evading in a vehicle and evading on foot. Both were taken to Williamson County Jail. (KXAN)
- When Nadya Zhurba moved from Ukraine to Leander five years ago, she founded the Bright Kids Ukrainian Online School, which teaches the Ukrainian language and culture to children living abroad. The twenty teachers are all based in Ukraine and since the war, about half of the classes have been canceled due to no internet and frequent bombing. Zhurba said she understands the helpless feeling and not knowing how to help, and suggests "we can call on our representatives here in the states hoping for better support of Ukraine." (FOX 7 Austin)
- The Cedar Park girls basketball team, the Timberwolves, won the Class 5A regional finals on Saturday, Feb. 26. They are number one in the division and have won every game this season, including their 50-37 victory against the Lady Panthers. (Liberty Hill Independent)
