1. Cedar Park City Council approved a zoning request on Feb. 24 for Shops at Vista Ridge, at the southwest corner of RM 1431 and Vista Ridge Boulevard, that "changes 21.5 acres from general business zoning to a planned development zoning with a mixed-use base district." City development services assistant director Andreina Dávila-Quintero explained "the project has three areas including an 8-acre park area, a multifamily complex with about 360 units and a commercial development area with single and multi-story buildings." 2. The Cedar Park Public Library has been awarded the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association (TMLDA) Excellence in Libraries Award. Only 59 out of 565 public libraries across the State of Texas have earned this year's award by demonstrating "consistent excellence and outstanding contributions to public library services within their communities." 3. Cedar Park's hockey team, Texas Stars, won 4 to 1 against Iowa on Thursday, Feb. 24. This marks the Stars' third win in a row. Today, Feb. 26, and Sunday, Feb. 27, the Texas Stars will play against Rockford. (100 Degree Hockey)
