Here are the top three stories today in Cedar Park-Leander:

  1. Yesterday, Apr. 27, a bomb threat was made to Vandegrift High School via a phone call. According to Leander ISD, the potential "bomb threat" has ended and school activities returned to normal. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office searched the school yesterday morning and gave the "all clear" when nothing was found. Rouse High School in LISD also had a bomb threat on Apr. 12, 2022. (KXAN)
  2. In the May 7 election, Cedar Park voters will choose between Jim Penniman-Morin, Mike Guevara, and Claudia Chavez to elect their new Mayor. According to their campaigns, Penniman-Morin is a current council member and business attorney who wants to continue to make Cedar Park a great place to live and work. Guevara is a former Cedar Park council member, and an attorney for 15 other municipalities, who wants to work on sustainable development. Chavez is a home-school teacher who has lived in Cedar Park for almost 15 years. She wants to reduce taxes as much as possible to prevent Cedar Park families from being taxed out of their homes.   3. Cedar Park City Council put an item on the next meeting agenda authorizing the installation of cell phone use prohibition signs on all 72 existing school zone signs across Cedar Park. The item will be passed and approved today, Apr. 28. City Council acknowledged the lack of signs following reported pedestrian accidents near Reagan Elementary School. Texas transportation law, which made cell phone use prohibited in school zones, has not been enforced in the city due to improper signage. (Community Impact Newspaper)
