Austin Parks & Recreation Seeks Artists' Submissions
Area artists are invited to submit proposals to become commissioned artists trained in Social Practice as an artistic response to COVID-19.
CEDAR PARK, TX —The Museum & Cultural Programs division of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department is accepting Social Practice Proposals for ArtResponders: Social Practice Responds to COVID-19, and invites area artists from all artistic disciplines to consider submitting their proposal.
The deadline for proposal submission is Sunday, Sept. 13 at 11:59 p.m.
Socially engaged practice, according to the Tate Museum, “describes art that is collaborative, often participatory and involves people as the medium or material of the work.” It can include “any art form and involves people and communities in debate, collaboration or social interaction.” Social practice uses the participatory element as the artwork, integrally developing an idea and turning it into public will.
