Ascension Seton Highland Lakes enhances general surgery with robotics

The Highland Lakes Health Fund donates $600K to Ascension Seton Highland Lakes for Robotics Program

The Highland Lakes Health Fund announced today a generous donation of $600,000 to Ascension Seton Highland Lakes, enabling the acquisition of a state-of-the-art Da Vinci Robotic System for general surgery. This landmark donation marks a significant leap forward in healthcare technology for patients in the Highland Lakes area and is a testament to the ongoing commitment to exceptional patient care.

The newly acquired Da Vinci Robotic System is set to revolutionize the landscape of general surgery in Highland Lakes. This cutting-edge technology allows for minimally invasive procedures, reducing the patient's recovery time and discomfort, while also providing surgeons with enhanced precision and control during surgery. Patients can expect shorter hospital stays, reduced scarring and a quicker return to their daily lives.

This investment reflects the longstanding partnership of the Burnet County Hospital Authority Board which, in 1998, collaborated with Seton Hospital to secure the Highland Lakes Hospital. The agreement included a provision that Seton Hospital would maintain the facility as a fully operational hospital for a minimum of 10 years. In the event of a profit being realized during this period, the Hospital Authority Board would receive 2% of the profit. The Highland Lakes Health Fund was established to invest these funds to promote healthcare for citizens of Burnet County by funding hospital facilities and providing scholarships for students pursuing careers in healthcare.

The funds received from this agreement served as the foundation for the continuous enhancement of healthcare services in the Highland Lakes area. Over the years, these funds have been instrumental in the establishment of doctor offices and the acquisition of essential medical equipment, furthering the mission to provide high-quality healthcare services to the community.

The Highland Lakes Health Fund is committed to advancing healthcare services and improving the quality of life for the Highland Lakes community. This generous donation of $600,000 to Ascension Seton Highland Lakes Hospital underscores Highland Lakes Health Fund’s dedication to the wellbeing of community members, ensuring they have access to the best healthcare technology available.
