As the long holiday weekend approaches, the community will have a chance to enjoy a live virtual performance of Shakespeare's famous play.
CEDAR PARK, TX — As the long holiday weekend approaches, there are great opportunities to check out new things and enjoy virtual events from the comfort of home. Cedar Park residents will have the chance to tune in to a virtual presentation of The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and its performance of King Lear. With a mission to make the words and themes of Shakespeare accessible to all audiences, the renowned Shakespeare in the Park events are now offered as Shakespeare at Home as a result of the pandemic and the non-profit organization's temporary closure.
Scheduled for Saturday, September 5 at 9 p.m., audiences will enjoy a free, live virtual performanceof one of the Bard's most celebrated works. Fun fact: Shakespeare composed King Lear during the London plague of 1606, and the Shakespeare Festival will offer their performance as a response to the current pandemic, in an effort to continue sharing art amid challenging circumstances.
