Cedar Park Celebrates New Hope Drive Extension

Cedar Park, Williamson County worked jointly in extending New Hope Drive from Cottonwood Creek Trail to Ronald Reagan Boulevard.

CEDAR PARK, TX — In showcasing a joint effort, the City of Cedar Park and Williamson County have scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony putting the spotlight on the extended New Hope Drive on Tuesday.

The project extends the artery from Cottonwood Creek Trail to Ronald Reagan Boulevard. City and county officials are scheduled to be on hand for the ribbon-cutting scheduled June 25 at 4:30 p.m. along New Hope Drive, just east of Arrow Point.

The New Hope Drive extension provides additional capacity for east-west traffic through Cedar Park in creating greater access to what has emerged as a technology hub in the city in the form of business parks La Jaita and Arrow Point, a city spokeswoman explained via email.

The project encompasses a four-lane major arterial, divided roadway with raised median, 10-foot wide shared use path, street lighting, a traffic signal at Ronald Reagan Boulevard and new water and wastewater lines. Work also included an extension of Arrow Point Drive, officials said. Additional off-site improvements are designed to accommodate access to and from the Spanish Oaks Estates subdivision, according to a project description.

Project work began in late summer 2017, with a budget of $9.4 million. According to the city, the project was funded by proceeds of 2015 voter-approved bonds along with savings from prior bond projects and a Williamson County contribution of $1.3 million. Project contractors were Smith Construction Company, while engineering services were provided by LJA Engineering and inspection work by Robert Dial, Dial Development Services.
