1. The Leander Independent School District board of trustees unanimously voted on Feb. 10 to compensate LISD employees for the Feb. 4 emergency closure due to winter weather. April 18, the district’s designated bad weather day, will make up for the closure on Feb. 3. A plan to make up the additional instructional minutes needed to meet state requirements will be presented at the Feb. 24 meeting. (KXAN)
2. The Texas Sports Writers Association Class 5A all-state team was announced Friday, Feb. 11, and three Leander Rouse players were voted into the first and third teams. Senior wide receiver Jalen Becerra was voted into the first team. Senior place-kicker Mason Johnson and junior quarterback Mason Shorb were voted into the third team. (Associated Press)
