Cedar Park Low Water Crossings Closed Amid Rainfall

Roads were closed Monday over fears of flash flooding potentially caused by downpour.

CEDAR PARK, TX — Surprisingly strong rain that descended on the area Monday morning prompted the closure of several low-water crossings in Cedar Park.

Crossings at Peach Tree, Cypress and Sumac lanes were closed in the midst of the rainfall. The move was undertaken to prevent motorists from attempting to cross at the sites where water makes the roads deceptively impassible.

The move underscores just how quickly flash flood conditions can materialize in the region during times of substantive rainfall. The force of Monday morning's rain came as something of a surprise given that rain chances had steadily decreased since a July 4 downpour wreaked havoc on the region.
