Cedar Park Mega Millions Winner Claims Prize

Anonymous resident takes home more than $157 million after buying winning ticket at Lakeline Express Mart in September.

CEDAR PARK, TX — The winner of a winning $227 million Mega Millions jackpot has claimed the prize, Texas Lottery Commission officials said Monday.

The winning ticket was sold at the Lakeline Express Mart in Cedar Park in September, officials said. The winner opted for the cash payout option rather than annuities, taking home $157,091, 592.

The winning Quick Pick ticket matched all of the numbers drawn (6-14-24-42-46) and the Mega Ball (9). The prize is the largest amount ever paid out to a winner in Texas.

The identity of the winner is a secret as lottery winners are allowed to remain anonymous in Texas.

The claimant becomes the 13th Mega Millions jackpot winner in Texas and the first since October 2016 when It Will Buy Me a Boat Revocable Trust Dated November 17, 2016, Garon R. Horton, Trustee, of Rockwall, claimed a $49 million advertised prize, lottery officials said in a press advisory. Texas joined the multi-jurisdictional game in 2003 and had its first Mega Millions jackpot winner in 2004 when Ut Van Nguyen of Carrollton claimed the $101 million advertised jackpot from the Oct. 1, 2004 drawing, officials added.
