Here are the top three stories in Cedar Park-Leander today:
- According to the unofficial results of the May 7 election, all three propositions in Cedar Park’s $158.8 million bond have passed. As of 11:03 p.m. on Friday, Williamson County had counted all election day votes and Proposition A was approved by 70.05 percent of the votes. At $86.6 million, Proposition A will be used for roadway infrastructure, traffic signals, and bike and pedestrian improvements. The $42.2 million Proposition B had 68.59 percent, or 5,276, supporting votes. Proposition B funding will go toward expanding or improving the city’s facilities, parks, and trails. Proposition C for $30 million received support from 72.76 percent of voters, or 5,595 voters in favor which will fund the construction of a training facility for fire, police, and emergency management on Cedar Park land. - CapMetro is here to stay in Leander after Leander voters narrowly approved Proposition A on Friday. This vote ensures the city's continued agreement with the transit agency, which means CapMetro will continue to be funded by the one-percent sales tax in the city. Prop B would have recaptured the one-percent sales tax after the city's financial obligation to Capital Metro was paid off, which was estimated as of Dec. 31 to be just over $42 million.
