Cedar Park Seeks Mural Artists
Parks Arts and Community Enrichment board aims to beautify concession/restroom building at Milburn Park.
CEDAR PARK, TX — Calling all artists! Parks Arts and Community Enrichment board members in Cedar Park are seeking to commission a mural at Milburn Park.
The artwork would be installed on the concession/restroom building located at the 42-acre recreational space on 1901 Sun Chase Blvd. Officials are seeking art that is both interactive and child-centric that would be fitting in a community park environment.

- Complement the building architecture and the overall aesthetic of the park.
- Utilize durable materials that will be suitable for continuous outdoor display
About the mural site
Milburn Park is located at 1901 Sun Chase Blvd. It is a significant
community park and is home to a number of city events including the City’s 4th of July
celebration, the spring Egg-stravaganza, and the Heritage Festival. The park is also home to
soccer fields, a community pool, a community garden, basketball and volleyball courts, a
playground and picnic pavilions.

The restroom and concessions building is primarily made of a rough Texas limestone that would
not be conducive to a painted mural. However a roughly 9-foot-by-9 foot section of the building is constructed of concrete masonry blocks, and that section has been identified as the interactive mural location.
The selection process
The city’s Parks Arts and Community Enrichment (PACE) Board will review the proposals and
will make a recommendation regarding the selection of an artist/design for the interactive mural
project. The PACE Board will then make a recommendation to the Cedar Park City Council for
final approval. The following criteria will be considered in the selection process:
- Cost.
- Suitability for outdoor display.
- Artist’s experience.
- Compliance with requirements contained in the city's call for proposals.
- Aesthetic properties of the proposed design for the mural.
- Production and delivery timeline of the proposed work.
Proposals requirements
Each proposal submission must include the following:
- Attached entry form.
- An artist resume outlining artist’s prior experience (including photos of previous work).
- A sketch, rendering, and/or detailed description of the proposed mural design. Artists
may propose up to three designs for the mural in their proposal packet.
Additional requirements
- All proposed artwork must be original. The applicant must be willing to certify that no other identical murals have been or will be produced for another party.
- Applicant must be capable of completing the mural within three months of being selected for the project.
- Applicants must submit their completed proposal packet on or before 5 p.m. CST on Aug. 2, 2019.
