Here are the top three stories in Cedar Park-Leander today:

  1. Top-ranked Cedar Park has upped their winning streak to an astounding 57 games on Thursday. The Timberwolves continued its march to repeat as Class 5A champion with a 69-23 win over San Antonio Edison in an area-round playoff game at Johnson High School. Blowouts have become commonplace for Cedar Park and now the Timberwolves will enter a third-round matchup. (Austin American-Statesman)
  2. Deaths caused by synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl, have increased rapidly across Texas. In fact, synthetic opioid deaths have become more common than cocaine and heroin. Most states across the nation have experienced similar spikes in overdoses, and only four saw fewer deaths during a recent 12-month span. Now, Texas organizations aim to help prevent opioid deaths, especially in younger people. (KXAN)
  3. An analysis by The Washington Post suggests the 78641 ZIP code in the Williamson County suburb tops the list of U.S. neighborhoods for donations to “Freedom Convoy” trucker protests. The protests in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, have blocked two U.S.-Canada border crossings and continue to disrupt traffic. (CultureMap Austin)
