1. In the early hours of Monday, Feb. 14, the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force found murder suspect Joshua McKinley in the 100 block of Dove Song in Leander and booked him into the Travis County Jail. According to witnesses, McKinley had allegedly stabbed his father, Aaron McKinley Sr., to death in the 7300 block of Tumbleweed Drive. He then reportedly fled the scene and a murder warrant was issued for his arrest. Detectives are asking anyone with information or video of the incident to call APD Homicide at 512-974-TIPS or email homicide.apd@austintexas.gov. (Austin Texas Gov.)
2. St. David's HealthCare will begin construction this year on a 150,000-square-foot full-service hospital to join the existing emergency room and medical office building at the medical complex on San Gabriel Parkway in Leander. The new hospital will have a 24-hour emergency department, inpatient and outpatient surgery, robotics services, critical care capabilities, and maternity and newborn services. The $142.5 million investment is expected to be completed in 2024 and create 200 new full-time jobs. (KVUE)
3. Pediatric Surgeon Dr. Julie Sanchez has been named “Physician of the Year” by the Patient Preferred Physicians Network "for her dedication to medicine and excellence in patient care."
