Improvements Ahead For Williamson County Highway
Shoulders, others safety features are planned for State Highway 183 used as an alternate route for drivers heading from Killeen to Austin.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS — State transportation officials said population growth in northwest Williamson County is resulting in more traffic on SH 183, increasingly used as an alternate route for drivers heading from Killeen to Austin.
As a result, Texas Department of Transportation officials said, a number of safety improvements are being created for the highway. These include the addition of shoulder, repaving of the road between SH 195 and US 183 and guardrail upgrades.
The work will be performed under two contracts totaling $7.2 million, according to TxDot. The contractor is TTG Utilities, officials added.
