Key Williamson County Road Project To Be Outlined

Texas Department of Transportation schedule open house to discuss enhancements along Interstate 35 from RM 2223 to southeast Inner Loop .

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS — State transportation officials have scheduled an open house to detail proposed mobility and safety improvements to a key county pathway.

The upcoming discussion centers on enhancements to Interstate 35 from RM 2223 to southeast Inner Loop in Williamson County. The open house is scheduled to take place on Feb. 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Dell Pickett Elementary School, 1100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Georgetown.

Texas Department of Transportation officials will be on hand to outline the project and answer questions from members of the public, officials said in a press advisory.

The project includes intersection improvements to alleviate an existing bottleneck at the intersection of RM 2243 and I-35, southbound I-35 frontage road improvements and operational improvements along RM 2243 from Woodmont Drive to Scenic Drive.

The environmental study and design development process for the estimated $37.2 million project is anticipated to be finalized in fall 2020. If approved, construction could begin in late 2023.

Maps, drawings and other project information will be on display at the open house. Comments from the public are requested. Those unable to attend the open house in person can visit the virtual open house at www.mobility35openhouse.com to provide comments between Feb. 12 and Feb. 27.
