1. Leander will have a ceremony to celebrate Elementary School 30's official groundbreaking, on Friday April 28. The school will be located, "near Devine Lake Park close to the intersection of Bagdad Road and San Gabriel Parkway in Leander." To match the rapid growth of the city, Elementary School 30 will become the district's 5th new school in five years. Funding comes from 2007 and 2017 bonds. 2. Cedar Park Police Department is prepping to graduate its first volunteers as part of the Citizens on Patrol (COP) program. This program acts as a neighborhood watch, an extra set of eyes and ears for the local police. Those interested in volunteering to join this team must fill certain requirements such as: Age 18 and up, clear a background check, live or own a business in Cedar Park, pass a 14-week training along with an added 5-week program.
