Local Dad Of 7 Daughters Shows Family A 'Rare, Beautiful' Love

CEDAR PARK-LEANDER, TX— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Cedar Park-Leander, meet Wizard Herrera.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly, or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting smiles on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Barbara Herrera who nominated Wizard Herrera of Cedar Park-Leander.

What makes this dad extra special?

Where do I start? I'm actually nominating my husband. When we started dating 17 years ago, I had two daughters from a previous marriage and I soon met his daughter of whom he had full custody. To me that was impressive, to be a single dad raising a 9-year-old daughter.

We were talking one day and afterward, what he told me would change my perception and my feelings towards him drastically. While discussing children and the possibility that we both wanted more, he mentioned that he wanted me to meet his daughters that lived in San Antonio. At first, I was taken aback that he hadn't told me he had two other daughters, but he proceeded to explain that when he'd married his previous wife, she had a daughter from another marriage and Wizard had been in her life since she was a baby. He didn't consider her his stepdaughter, but his daughter.

But there was more to this story. After the birth of his daughter of whom he had custody, he and his spouse divorced but were still on and off in a relationship ... Still, this child had an amazing dad from her first breath!

He is an amazing dad to three beautiful daughters and though my two daughters have their father in their life, they refer to him as Dad as well!

But wait, this story is not over. After our conversation that day, I fell in love with this amazing man who loved with his whole heart. His story was so warm and caring that I knew he was an amazing dad. A year later, when we welcomed the birth of our twin daughters, I discovered twice that he was so much more than amazing,

Witnessing his love and involvement in every detail of our babies' lives was so touching and heart-warming. Growing up without a father, I didn't know the depth of a father's love for his children until this incredible man walked into my life. Watching our seven daughters grow into wonderful, loving women has been an honor and a priceless gift. Sharing this life with a man that I respect and cherish and love is truly the best life possible.

As a mom, watching him with any of the kids is so special, and I don't think he realizes the impact it's made on our beautiful girls nor does he understand how rare, unique, and beautiful it is to witness. He truly is the best father I've ever known and is so deserving to be told that every day, especially on Father's Day. Why do you feel your Dad deserves the spotlight?
