Here are the top three stories today in Cedar Park-Leander:

  1. Cedar Park, Leander, and the rest of Williamson County have much higher home sales than inside Austin city limits. In February, Austin home sales increased 2.5 percent and home prices up 20.2 percent. In Williamson County, home sales increased 32.3 percent and up 78.2 percent. There are many reasons for the growth, including an influx of tech companies, the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, new food options — and prices in the area are generally still cheaper due to more land. Austin Board of Realtors president-elect Ashley Jackson said Williamson County has "become a really high-demand area." (mySA)
  2. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Marsha Moberley of Cedar Park to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. The board "makes parole decisions for Texas prison inmates, determines
conditions for parole and mandatory supervision, and makes recommendations on clemency matters to the governor." Moberley will serve as a Commissioner for the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole until the term expires on Feb. 1, 2025. (Office of the Texas Governor)
  3. Meet Laken, a small grey cat who loves to be carried around, at Texas Humane Heroes in Leander. Patch and Petfinder created a new list of adoptable pets in the Cedar Park-Leander area — view the link to see more adorable pets. (Cedar Park-Leander Patch)
