Here are the top three stories in Cedar Park-Leander today:
- On Jun. 14 at around 12:30 a.m., a 34-year-old man was shot and killed by a Leander police officer who was serving a narcotics search warrant at the Inn Tower Suites Extended Stay Hotel located at 9909 North Lamar in Austin. The officer was part of Central Texas Regional SWAT, which is a regional SWAT team shared jointly by Leander PD, Cedar Park Police Department, Georgetown Police Department, and the Pflugerville Police Department. The Austin Police Department is investigating the officer-involved shooting. In accordance with Leander PD policy, the officer involved has been put on administrative leave. (Fox 7 Austin)
- Martha Benavides is the owner of the food trailer Tacos De Prisa Y Mas, located at 209 W. Broade Street in Leander, that serves homemade tortillas. Martha has had her food trailer in Leander for a little over a year and thanked "the community for their support, for coming out, for the reviews" and said she could not have done it without the community's support. - Cedar Park High School student Thomas Wu announced his commitment to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Wu is a Texas high school state champion in the 100 breaststroke. He holds a 2022 Winter U.S. Open qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke and Winter Juniors qualifying times in the 200 breast and 100 fly. (SwimSwam)
