CEDAR PARK, TX — For the second year, McAlister's Deli has teamed up with Meals On Wheels America for its “Warming Up the Community” campaign benefiting residents facing food insecurity.

The need is greater this year given continued reach of the coronavirus, officials said. Especially affected are senior citizens, the population segment most vulnerable to the illness scourge. Before the pandemic took hold, officials noted, more than 9.7 million seniors across the country were threatened by hunger and that number has gone up significantly in the past few months.

McAlister’s “Warming up the Community” campaign aims to raise funds to help provide warm meals and comfort to seniors around the holidays. Since Nov. 1 and through month's end, McAlister’s is donating 10 cents for every soup sold having already started with a minimum donation of $100,000 to Meals on Wheels America to support the philanthropic organization's efforts to reduce hunger and senior isolation.
