National Railway Safety Week Kicks Off With Steam Train Excursion

Capital Metro invites the community to experience the Austin Steam Train FREE on Sunday, Sept. 22.

CEDAR PARK, TX — Kicking off National Railway Safety Week, Capital Metro invites individuals and families to explore an Austin Steam Train Excursion on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 p.m. at 401 East Whitestone Blvd., #C-100, Cedar Park, TX 78613. The Austin Steam Train Association (ASTA) works to preserve, interpret and re-create the first-hand experience of historic steam-era railroading.

Throughout the history of ASTA, volunteers have served as the operating crews of all trains, with each volunteer fully trained and qualified to fulfill their responsibilities. Volunteers have also lent their skills to the maintenance and restoration of the trains. The Austin Steam Train Excursion is an opportunity to discover the rich history of ASTA and enjoy a leisurely afternoon of fun.

The train station will open at 1 p.m., one hour prior to departure. Upon arriving to the station, passengers are asked to visit the Will Call Tickets pick up podium. A Ticket Assistant will ask for a reservation confirmation and present you with your tickets to board. Passengers are asked to arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. to find parking and pick up tickets with boarding beginning at 1:30 p.m. For additional event details and FREE tickets, please click HERE.
