Here are the top three stories in Cedar Park-Leander today:
- The National Coalition Against Censorship (NCAC) sent a letter to Texas State Representative Jared Patterson "calling out" the way he mislead and intimidated every school district in Texas in order to censor books. NCAC said that Rep. Patterson knows that the school districts never purchased obscenity or child pornography, even though he claimed there was obscenity and child pornography in school library books. NCAC also said that Rep. Patterson and his co-signers are "not protecting students from obscene and explicit content. They are censoring books and denying students the well-rounded education that is essential to preserving a healthy democracy." (Blogging Censorship)
- The beloved Leander ISD teacher and coach, Cody Redfern, was thrown a party by Whataburger on Mar. 29, after his students reached out to the company. One of his students, Neha George said "he is kind, helpful, patient and a really fun teacher." At the party, Redfern was gifted free Whataburger for a year, a gift basket, and Whataburger "swag." (KXAN)
- The Lucky Rabbit, just outside of Cedar Park at 18626 Ranch Road 1431, is a new restaurant and bar that is becoming popular for its food and live music. The Lucky Rabbit is family and dog-friendly and maintains a country vibe. (CultureMap Austin)
