Here are the top three stories today in Cedar Park-Leander:
- On Jun. 22, We Are Blood (WRB) will open its new donor center in Cedar Park, located at 251 North Bell Boulevard. The center will have seven donor stations and feature hand-painted murals by Avery Orendorf, a local Austin artist. Marian Garrard, CEO of WRB, said that the new Cedar Park donor center will make "blood donation even more accessible and convenient for friends and neighbors." (FOX 7 Austin)
- Local craft breweries are providing an economic boost to small towns. Angela Poe of Cedar Park visited the Real Ale Tap Room in Blanco, located at 231 San Saba Court. She believes craft beer is rising in popularity because "beer lovers like to know their brew comes from a local source" and the "variety of styles and flavors are great." (Texas Standard)
- The 2022 Central Texas Juneteenth Celebration begins with a parade on Jun. 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at 1183 Chestnut Avenue in Austin. There will be a festival from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Rosewood & Boggy Creek Park, located at 2300 Rosewood Avenue in Austin, with live music, food, clothing, fireworks, and more. There will also be Leander’s inaugural Juneteenth celebration on Jun. 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., located at 100 N. Brushy Street. Leander's festival will include live music, a history reading, classic cars, a scavenger hunt, face painting, food trucks, carnival attractions, and more. (KXAN)

Are you a Cedar Park-Leander resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
