The Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) started construction on a new transmission center in Leander in December 2021 and expects to be operating its own transmission plant from the new center by the end of 2023. PEC Chief Executive Officer Julie Parsley said PEC operating its own transmission "will improve reliability and result in long-term financial benefits for co-op members. It also will give PEC a voice in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market." (DailyTrib)
  2. A Special Operations National Guardsman and elite former MMA fighter, Tim Kennedy, is opening Sheepdog Response in Cedar Park on Feb. 26. Sheepdog Response will be the headquarters of his new tactical training facility which teaches "situational awareness, weapons retention, arrest, and control, graduated response in escalation of force, active shooter response, and a myriad of other things."   3. There is another winter weather advisory for today, Thursday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. to Friday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. Elevated roads, isolated bridges, and overpasses may be icy. (KXAN)
