No Students On Leander ISD Bus Involved In Fatal Friday Crash
A woman was killed when her vehicle veered into the path of the school bus. The bus driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
JONESTOWN, TX —A woman was killed Friday morning when her vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a Leander ISD school bus, which was on its way to pick up students, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said. No students were on the bus at the time of the crash in Jonestown.
The woman, who was driving a Ford Focus, was airlifted to St. David's Georgetown Hospital in Round Rock, where she was pronounced dead. The bus driver was taken to a Round Rock hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities. Neither driver has been named.
According to DPS, the accident was reported at 7:52 a.m. and occurred on Ranch Road 1431.

"The car was traveling eastbound and the bus was westbound, when the Red Ford Focus went across the center of the roadway and into the school bus. It was struck from the front," sergeant Deon Cockrell, of DPS, told Patch. "The accident is under investigation and we're trying to see what caused that crash."
A spokesperson for the Leander ISD said the bus was going to pick up students from Cedar Park Middle School and Cedar Park High School on Bus Route 313 at the time of the crash.

The Travis County Sheriff's Office handled traffic at the scene, which included road closures.
The Leander ISD informed parents of the crash and sent another bus to pick up students and take them to their campuses.
