Officials Celebrate Williamson County Animal Shelter Expansion

March 14 grand opening will spotlight new-and-improved site and feature a pair of police K9s who started off as shelter residents.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS — The public is invited to a grand opening ceremony spotlighting the Williamson County Regional Animal Center expansion next week.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be staged on Thursday, March 14, at 11 a.m. Attendees are invited to take part in a Kitten Shower by donating items for the shelter’s many cats and kittens.

A pair of special shelter success stories will be spotlighted during the event. K9 Harley with the Round Rock Police Department and K9 Bolo with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office both were at the shelter before being identified as prime candidates as police canines, effectively giving them a new leash on life. Their counterparts, Hutto Police K9s Raisin and Rik also will attend the grand opening, officials said.
