Online Botanical Painting Class Explores Artists Through History

The virtual session, A Feminists Guide To Botany, features a visual lecture on the works of famous women artists and a painting class.

CEDAR PARK, TX — Enjoy a one-of-a-kind virtual event that promises equal parts culture and art and intended to be experienced from the comfort of home. The Feminist's Guide to Botany: Online Botanical Painting Session is a unique lecture and Botanical Painting session to offer an escape from the worry and stress of life during COVID-19.

The donation-based session is open to creatives of all levels hoping to learn more about the rich history of female presence Botanical Art, and the inspiring stories of women botanical explorers and artists through the history. The online session scheduled Thursday, July 30 beginning at 12:30 p.m. will feature insight on the works of artists such as Maria Sybilla Merian, Marianne North, Rachel Ruysch and others.

The 1-hour visual lecture will offer participants the opportunity to sketch if desired, and be led in basic watercolor techniques and exercise that allow you to create your own Botanical Paintings. Materials needed include:
