Here are the top three stories in Cedar Park-Leander today:

  1. Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector Larry Gaddes announced the Mar. 7 start of an American Rescue Plan grant that will help local homeowners impacted by the pandemic avoid foreclosure. Gaddes explained qualifying homeowners will have a check for the delinquent amount sent to the Tax Assessor's office "so that the homeowner avoids foreclosure." Homeowners should note that the payment is a grant and not a loan that needs to be repaid. Gaddes encourages all homeowners to apply who have delinquent taxes. (Press Release Desk)
  2. On Mar. 7, Twin Liquors opened its second Leander store located in the Bar W Marketplace at 19368 Ronald Reagan Blvd., Ste. 110. The Texas-based liquor store offers online ordering for delivery or in-store pickup and is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. (Community Impact Newspaper)
  3. After a year-long delay caused by issues with the contractor, Ritter, Botkin Prime Construction Co., the River Ranch County Park is 90 percent complete and might have a 2022 opening. The 1,354-acre park is located between Leander and Liberty Hill and "will include 10-12 miles of hiking, biking and equestrian trails; campgrounds; playgrounds; RV parking; pavilions; and an interpretive center." Williamson County terminated its contract with Ritter, Botkin Prime Construction Co. and will put out a bid for a new general contractor to finish the remaining work. (Community Impact Newspaper)
