- At the end of April, in the Premier Athletic Complex in Leander, writer Madeleine Aggeler attended the HERPS Austin Exotic Reptile and Pet Show. At the expo, she was startled that anyone could easily purchase small snakes, geckos, scorpions, tree frogs, tarantulas, baby caimans, and more. She said it "felt like a cross between a petting zoo and a sample sale." (Texas Monthly)
- Liberty Hill Independent looks at some of the important dates in Leander's history. Leander dates back to the mid-1800s, and in 1899, the Leander High School Association was established. The Leander ISD now claims to be the largest school district in Williamson County. Leander was incorporated in 1978. The Leanderthal Lady, a skeleton of a pre-historic human female at the Wilson-Leonard Brushy Creek Site, was discovered in 1982. (Liberty Hill Independent)
- Jillian Cox, from Cedar Park, was ranked number 14 in SwimSwam's "Top 20 NCAA Swimming Recruits In The Girls High School Class of 2023." SwimSwam said Cox is a "great distance swimmer" and "already has an NCAA invite time in the 500 free and in the mile." (SwimSwam)

Are you a Cedar Park-Leander resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
