Cedar Park 'National Night Out' Secures Top Honors
The Cedar Park Police Department recently took first place in the state and 12th place in the nation for its annual crime awareness event.
CEDAR PARK, TX — The Cedar Park Police Department recently took first place in the state for its National Night Out event, officials said.
In addition, city officials said, the local police department secured 12th place in the nation for cities of similar size.
Cedar Park’s event is organized and directed by our Community Services Division and is made successful community turnout and support of the cities neighbors and block party captains, officials said in an advisory.

“We have very strong and productive partnerships with our neighbors and businesses. This award is a reflection of those partnerships,” Sgt. Jessie Campbell said in a prepared statement. “Cedar Park residents are some of the best in the country. The block parties they host are amazing.”
The National Night Out Campaign is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. It is also a way to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

Each year, Cedar Park Police host a National Night Kick-Off party attended by thousands to promote the event and give people another chance to meet their fellow neighbors and patrol officers. Then in August, our neighbors’ hosted more than fifty block parties and cookouts filled with games, food, fun and more.
“This award is a true honor that shows the dedication this community has to support the police and support each other in the fight against crime,” Campbell added. “The hard part now will be making next year’s event even better. I think we are up to the challenge.
This year’s National Night Out Kick-Off Party is scheduled at Heritage Oak Park on Saturday, July 25 ahead of National Night Out in local neighborhoods on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
