Here are the top three stories today in Cedar Park-Leander:

  1. Rouse High School, located at 1222 Raider Way in Leander, received a potential bomb threat on Tuesday morning. The Leander Police Department had students shelter in place instead of evacuating the school while police searched for suspicious items. No suspicious items were found and the school returned to normal operations at 10:40 a.m. (KVUE)
  2. Students at Summit Christian Academy in Cedar Park launched three new sustainability projects at their school. Environmental science teacher Melissa Tapperson had the students identify ways to make the campus "greener." Student Klein Coburn led a recycling project where they make sure the recycling goes in the correct bins. Another student, Kylie Millican, led a thrifted fashion show to show students that upcycling and thrifted clothes can be fun and stylish. A third student, Kate Norris, led a gardening project where students grow food for the school cafeteria. (KXAN)
  3. The Leander Activity Center, located at 11880 Hero Way West, is now open to the public. The center offers recreational activities for all ages, summer youth programs, and community events. There will be a meeting for teens aged 12 to 17 on Apr. 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to share ideas for teenage programming and events. (Community Impact Newspaper)
