Here are the top three stories today in Cedar Park-Leander:

  1. Christopher Duplantier, 31, was arrested last week as the second suspect in the Crystal Falls Home Owners Association mail theft on Mar. 4. Duplantier's accomplice, 39-year-old Matthew Smart, was arrested earlier in March. Both are accused of using a U.S. Postal Service master key to open cluster mailboxes in Leander and steal the contents in a potential identity theft operation. Duplantier is being held on a $139,500 bond for at least nine charges including robbery. (KXAN News)
  2. Leander ISD (LISD) filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) for not processing the district’s permit application to construct a second access road to Vandegrift High School and Four Points Middle School. Leander ISD claims another access road to the schools is needed for emergency vehicles, since the only access at the moment is from RR 2222 off McNeil Drive. But the land surrounding the two schools has been designated preserve land and the USFWS will not process the district’s permit application unless the district obtains ownership of the area.
