WilCo Activates COVID-19 Vaccination Plan
The county has put its Phase 1B vaccination plan in place as it prepares to receive 6,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine this week.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Williamson County is activating its COVID-19 vaccination plan this week ahead of receiving 6,000 doses of the COVID-19 Moderna vaccine from Family Hospital Systems, officials said Tuesday.
The plan involves providing the vaccine to residents who are eligible to receive it under the Texas Department of State Health Services’ Phase 1B, officials explained.
"I am grateful to Gov. [Greg] Abbott and the state for providing our county with these vaccines to help protect our most vulnerable residents from the devastation of COVID-19," Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said in a prepared statement. "We will work with our partner Family Hospital Systems to get vaccines in arms as quickly as possible."

To that end, the Williamson County Commissioners Court at its Tuesday meeting approved an agreement with Family Hospital Systems to administer the vaccine as outlined in the plan. Family Hospital Systems will begin vaccinating eligible residents at the Sun City Ballroom, located at 2 Texas Drive in Georgetown, Texas, as soon as they receive the vaccine, county officials said in an advisory.

Vaccinations will be provided through the weekend while supplies last, officials said. An appointment will be required before receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. To register, visit the Family Hospital Systems website. Residents who need assistance getting registered are directed to call (833) 984-3747.
In addition, Family Hospital Systems will be vaccinating people from their wait list at a drive-thru site at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex, 10211 W. Parmer Lane. Residents must be on the Family Hospital Systems wait list in order to be contacted for an appointment at that site. Drive-up appointments will not be accepted. Registration for the FHS wait list is available here.
Phase 1B includes people 65 years of age and older, and people 16 years of age and older with at least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes COVID-19, such as but not limited to:
- Cancer.
- Chronic kidney disease.
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
- Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies.
- Solid organ transplantation.
- Obesity an
- d severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher).
- Pregnancy.
- Sickle cell disease.
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Residents are urged to remember supplies of the COVID-19 vaccine remain limited, officials said. Residents who are not scheduled to receive the vaccine this week at the county’s vaccination site are encouraged to call their healthcare provider or consider visiting one of the state’s vaccination hubs that have been set up in various counties throughout the state.
