WilCo Animal Shelter Challenge Waives Adoption Fees
Petco Foundation will pay for fees on first 100 adoptions starting Saturday, July 13, as shelter officials deal with overcapacity.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter has teamed up with Petco Foundation in issuing a 48-hour challenge this weekend designed to promote animal adoption.
The "challenge" part of this equation centers on the foundation, which will sponsor the first 100 adoptions at the shelter by paying associated fees, county officials said.
This event starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, when adoption fees on all adult dogs, adult cats, kittens, and puppies will be paid by the Petco Foundation. Plus, each adopter will leave with a special gift, while supplies last, officials noted. All animals will be spayed/neutered and given the appropriate vaccinations before they leave to their new home, shelter officials added.

“We are so grateful to the Petco Foundation, and we are happy to share this grant with our adopters by providing free adoptions to loving homes,” Animal Services Director Cheryl Schneider said in a prepared statement.
Event organizers labeled the pet adoption challenge as "...a lifesaving opportunity for the shelter, which has seen an increase of animals coming through its door in the past few months and, as a result, is currently overcapacity."
