Investigators with the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office said the boy was outside with his 7-year-old brother in the 100 block of Birchwood Drive on Friday night when a spray paint can exploded.
The boy suffered second- and third-degree burns on more than 60 percent of his body. He was taken Shriner’s Hospital in Galveston in serious condition.
