Father Charged After Infant Is Shot With BB Gun: Police

Police are trying to determine the motive behind an incident that injured a 7-month-old infant Monday night.

CLEVELAND, TEXAS — A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with injury to a child after he allegedly shot his 7-month-old infant with a BB gun, according to police. Officials at the Texas Rural Hospital called police Monday night after a man and a woman brought in their child who’d been shot with a BB gun.

According to hospital personnel, the infant had apparently been shot in the forehead and in the top of the head with BB pellets. Police spoke with the child’s mother, who gave police a different version of how the child was injured than the father, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

Detectives were called to the hospital to investigate the incident and arrested the child’s father, Zackaria James Knox. Police charged Knox with injury to a child, a second degree felony.
