Montgomery County Confirms First Case Of West Nile Virus
Montgomery County officials confirmed its first case of the West Nile Virus for 2018 by a man in his 40s.

CONROE, TX -- The first case of West Nile Virus in Montgomery County was confirmed Tuesday in a man in his 40s, officials said.
Montgomery County Public Health officials said the man is a new resident to the county and has since been treated and is recovering.
In June, Montgomery County officials announced that they were beginning mosquito abatement after finding several in their traps that tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Earlier this month, Montgomery County confirmed 38 mosquitoes had tested positive for the disease.

- Fever
- Headache
- Body aches
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Swollen lymph glands
- Skin rash on chest, stomach and back
The virus usually takes anywhere from three days to 3 weeks to see symptoms of the illness once someone is bitten by an infected mosquito.
Meanwhile, officials are urging everyone to take precautions while outdoors and think WET:
- Wear Repellent
- Eliminate Standing Water
- Treat Water You Can't Eliminate
Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activity during the scheduled treatment hours. Personal protective measures, such as insect repellent, wearing long, light loose clothing, and eliminating standing water should also be done.
