Montgomery County Girls Care Facility Raided
Montgomery County Attorney's Office reported that were 93 complaints received in just over a year's time from residents living at there.

WILLIS, TX — Montgomery County law enforcement officials raided a youth care facility amid complaints of neglect, and physical and sexual abuse by staff members.
The Care Cottage, a state-funded facility that specialized in the care of at-risk girls aged 6-17, allegedly received numerous reports from residents at the facility.
According to the Montgomery County Attorney’s Office, there were 93 complaints received in just over a year’s time from residents living at the facility, KPRC reported.

Inspector’s noted deplorable living conditions that included a failure to fully vet employees with background checks, moldy and filthy bathrooms, damaged walls, and broken windows, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The Care Cottage facility was operated by the private HTK Care Foundation Inc., a nonprofit foundation that operates the home.
Some of the abuse reported included alcohol being provided to residents of the facility, girls being hog-tied, or girls injured while trying to escape.
As a result of the road, five staff members have been terminated, and criminal charges are pending.
