• Conroe lawsuit raises questions about who gets to decide this issue (khou.com) — Conroe firefighters have filed a lawsuit claiming city officials illegally blocked their petition to put collective bargaining rights on the May 2026 ballot. They say they turned in far more signatures than state law requires, while the city allegedly demanded an unsupported higher threshold. A judge will now be asked to decide whether voters in Conroe get to weigh in.
   

• 2026 Mock Realignment 6A: New Years Edition (texasfootball.com) — Conroe ISD fans can see how a mock 2026 UIL Class 6A realignment might group Conroe, The Woodlands, College Park, Grand Oaks, Caney Creek, Oak Ridge, and Willis with other large Texas schools. The projection lists enrollment figures and proposed districts statewide, hinting at future rivalries and travel if the realignment plays out this way.
   

• Cities with the highest and lowest property tax burdens (sanluisobispo.com) — Conroe homeowners are ranked among the highest-burdened in the country, paying a median $5,866 a year in property taxes, or about 5.14% of homeowner income. The national study compares 343 large cities, showing several Texas communities, including Conroe, near the top of the list.
