Montgomery Couple Arrested After SWAT Standoff
A Montgomery man who shot at police and threatened to blow up his house is being held without bond in Montgomery County.

MONTGOMERY, TX — A man who evaded police for more than a day was arrested after police fired tear gas into his girlfriend’s home Sunday night. The entire incident began at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday when Montgomery Police tried to pull over a white Saturn Vue for a traffic violation.
Instead of pulling over, the driver who was later identified as Nolen Goodman, 34, led police on a high-speed chase. During the chase, police spiked the Saturn’s tires, which caused Goodman to lose control and crash through a fence.
Police said Goodman took off on foot through a wooded area, leaving his female passenger behind. Police said the woman, who was not hurt, was taken into custody and later released.

According to a press release, Goodman shot at police at least once as police chased him through the woods.
Police followed Goodman to a home in the 12300 block of FM 149 and surrounded the home and property.
SWAT officers searched the home and the wooded area around the home while the Texas Department of Public Safety used their helicopter to search by air. However, Goodman managed to escape law enforcement.

The next morning, police returned to the home after a witness called and reported that Goodman was at the house.
SWAT officers surrounded the house and a family member of Goodman’s came out and told police that Goodman and his girlfriend, identified as Rosemary Paez, 44, were inside.
SWAT and crisis negotiators spent most of the day trying unsuccessfully to establish communication with Goodman inside the home. Police tried to persuade Goodman and Paez to surrender, but they refused.
Shortly after 10 p.m., police fired tear gas canisters into the home and a few minutes later, Paez surrendered. She told police that Goodman was not in the home, but police were able to see Goodman inside the home.
Paez was arrested and charged hindering apprehension of a known fugitive.
While police were negotiating with him, Goodman told them he had a bomb and would blow the house up if they didn’t leave.
At about 4:15 a.m. Monday, police stormed the home and arrested Goodman. They did not find a bomb in the house.
Goodman is in the Montgomery County Jail and is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and making a terroristic threat. He is being held without bond.
