CONROE, TX – A man who police said committed a smash and grab robbery with a hammer inside the Woodlands Mall in 2017, has been arrested. Shamarie Harris, 28, is accused of robbing the Helzberg Diamonds Store inside The Woodlands Mall in 2017 and taking $75,000 in jewelry.

Harris and another man went into the store on Jan. 3, 2017, spray painted the security cameras and smashed the display cases with a hammer, police said. The two men ran from Helzberg Diamonds toward a Zales Jewelry store inside the mall.

A Good Samaritan, who tried to stop the thieves was hit in the face with the hammer, police said at the time. The man was rushed to an area hospital and recovered from his injuries.
