Children's Safe Harbor opens new $10 million Conroe facility to double trauma services (houstonchronicle.com) — A major child-advocacy nonprofit has opened a new $10 million, 45,000-square-foot facility on Loop 336 East in Conroe, doubling its capacity to help abused and traumatized children. Children’s Safe Harbor’s expanded center brings more forensic interviews, counseling, law enforcement space, and a medical clinic together in a healing-focused setting, funded by state support and local donors. 
2. Lawsuit, ethics complaint challenge results of Conroe charter amendment election (houstonchronicle.com) — Conroe’s recent charter amendment election is facing both a lawsuit and a Texas Ethics Commission complaint over how the city promoted the propositions online. A former city development official is challenging the legality of the campaign and tougher new recall rules, while the city has set aside up to $150,000 for its legal defense and awaits a February ethics hearing.
3. Habitat for Humanity celebrates Next Community in Magnolia with Foundation Ceremony (hellowoodlands.com) — Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County is wrapping up its 129-home Cedar Creek neighborhood in Conroe while launching a new 200-home community, Marble Creek, in Magnolia. With major donor support and a 2026 construction blitz planned, the organization is expanding affordable homeownership options that will benefit families across Conroe and the wider county for decades.

December 16, 2025: Days Gone By (republicanherald.com) — A “Days Gone By” feature looks back at community moments from 1925 to 2000, including a local couple’s memories of a Republican Lincoln dinner held years ago in Conroe.
