Here are the top three stories in Corpus Christi today:
- The city of Corpus Christi will keep cooling centers open due to a heat advisory and excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service. Residents can seek refuge from the scorching heat at senior centers and public libraries, while public pools and splash pads are also available for cooling off. The city advises taking precautions, such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat, and ensuring the safety of pets and vulnerable individuals. - Multiple locations in Corpus Christi are offering COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots, including the new Pfizer and Moderna Bivalent Booster Doses. These vaccinations are free at all City-County Public Health District clinics, and parental consent is required for children aged six months to 17 years receiving the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. - Three sea turtles named 'Macadamia,' 'Chocolate Chunk,' and 'Thin Mint' were transported to the Coastal Bend area by plane after being found on Cape Cod. After spending a few months at the Tony Amos Rehabilitation Keep (ARK), the turtles were released back into the gulf in nearby Mustang Island on Jun. 16. (KIII 3 News)
- The Corpus Christi Football Club has three games left in town this summer. Today, Jun. 17, they will play AHFC Royals. The next two games will be on Jul. 1 and Jul. 8. Learn more here. (Visit Corpus Christi via Facebook)
- Pepsi Superhero Day is coming back to the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History on Jul. 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This event welcomes superheroes and comic book enthusiasts to join in the fun with activities, contests, vendors, shows, concessions, and more.
