- Predictions from the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi anticipate heat index values will exceed 115 degrees throughout this weekend and next week. An excessive heat watch was issued for the Coastal Bend area through next Thursday evening. The City of Corpus Christi reminds residents to make efforts to prevent heat exhaustion, including drinking plenty of water, taking frequent breaks when working outside, and never leaving people or pets in closed, parked vehicles. - The Corpus Christi Black Chamber of Commerce held its second annual business luncheon on Wednesday in the leadup to Juneteenth. The event was held at the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Bend and sought to address the state of Black businesses in the Corpus Christi community. Former Prairie View mayor Brian Rowland served as this year's keynote speaker. (KIIITV.com)
- Oso Pool in Corpus Christi is closed for the second week in a row due to a cracked six-inch pipe. City officials say the replacement is currently being installed, but the pool will need to undergo additional maintenance following the installation. A time frame for the completion of the repairs and the reopening of the pool has not been provided. (KIIITV.com)
