Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- Dallas Symphony Orchestra's Concert Truck will be returning for the third year in a row, making stops throughout the Dallas area through the end of the year. The traveling concert stage will be performing classical music for Dallas residents and visitors. This year, the Concert Truck will be performing over 30 community concerts; click for the complete list of performances. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- The Dallas Police Department reports that two officers were injured during a crash early Sunday morning. The officers were hit by their own squad car when another vehicle hit it along the Dallas North Tollway shortly after 2:00 a.m. The officers, who were assisting a stalled car at the time of the incident, were then transported to a local hospital for treatment. (WFAA.com)
- One of the Dallas Zoo's cheetahs has passed away. Brutus, 10 years old, died from kidney failure, anemia, infection, and a compromised liver/gallbladder. The zoo will be performing an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. Kidney failure seems to be a common issue in older cats. (Dallas Zoo)
Patch deal of the day:
Good knives make all the difference in the kitchen, but you don’t need to overpay for them. Seido Japanese knives are made with strong high-carbon stainless steel (high-carbon knives are more durable and usually more expensive) and have an acute 15-degree angle for a noticeably sharper cutting face (most Western-style knives have edge angles of 25 degrees). For a limited time, Patch readers can get a 5-piece Seido Japanese master knife set for 71 percent off. At just under $70, this chef-quality set is perfect for any home cook and would also make a great gift for the holidays.
