Highland Springs Offers a Personalized Approach to Discovering Its Vibrant Lifestyle

Friends Nancy Hall and Penny Harrison signed up for an overnight Live the Life stay and fell in love with Highland Springs

When Nancy Hall visited Texas to see her friend Penny Harrison in 2023, she was considering a move to retirement living. Naturally, the conversation turned to Highland Springs, an Erickson Senior Living community in North Dallas, Tex.

Nancy, who was living in Powell, Wyo., at the time, says, "I had no family left in Wyoming, and it was time to be around family. I have granddaughters and great-grandsons in Houston and extended family in the Dallas area."

She was happy to discover that Highland Springs offers a variety of ways to learn more about the community and experience its vibrant lifestyle, helping prospective residents ensure it's the right place for them.

See for yourself

If you're interested in learning more about Highland Springs, it's easy to schedule a personal appointment with a sales team member or attend an introductory event.

"We see appointments as opportunities to offer insight into pricing, answer any questions you have, and provide tours of the campus and residences," says Christie.

Nancy's first step was scheduling a visit--then two and three.

"I flew here three different times," Nancy says. "I met with salespeople, looked at apartments, and started thinking positively about making the move--and Penny did, too."

Priority List perks

Impressed by everything they saw and heard, the pair decided to join Highland Springs' Priority List. In

addition to saving their spot in line for a residence, members receive invitations to exclusive educational events, updates on community happenings, and access to planning and moving support.

Priority List events range from informational seminars on retirement finances to social gatherings like holiday parties, enabling guests to talk with current residents and sample the community's food.

"We hosted an Erickson Realty and Moving Services seminar, where prospective residents heard about the current real estate market; met Highland Springs' preferred vendors, like moving and packing companies; and gained insight on the services that are available to them," notes Christie. "We've also held lifestyle events, where guests learn about the community's resident-led clubs and activities."

She adds, "We had a well-attended dining event, where our dining team explained the Signature Dining program, which focuses on fresh, made-to-order dishes."

Live the Life

Priority List members can also take advantage of the Life the Life program, which allows guests to stay overnight in a furnished suite, utilize amenities, join club meetings, dine at on-campus restaurants, and chat with current residents.

"It's a great way to test-drive the vibrant lifestyle," says Christie. "The suites are just like the homes that current residents are living in. We also stock the kitchen with cereals, snacks, and treats you like, in case you get hungry between complimentary meals at our restaurants."

She adds, "The opportunity to mix and mingle with current residents and immerse yourself in community life is unbeatable!"

Nancy and Penny, who signed up for a Live the Life stay together, couldn't agree more.

"We did an overnight stay in a beautiful two-bedroom apartment. So, we each had a bedroom," Nancy recalls. "We went to dinner with a nice couple who filled us in on all our questions about Highland Springs. We went to breakfast that next morning and then had a meeting with the sales team. We had a lovely time!"

Giving back

Now, Nancy and Penny are friends and neighbors, as they moved into residences down the hall from each other in January 2024.

"I have a one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath home with a balcony, and I love it," says Nancy, noting that she settled in quickly, eager to make the most of the community's vibrant lifestyle.

She enjoys strolling along the beautifully landscaped walkways in the mornings, playing bridge at least three times a week, and catching up with Penny over meals in the community's restaurants.

Recently, she served as a resident ambassador, helping prospective residents learn more about Highland Springs.

"People came in and looked at apartments. I talked to visitors and answered questions as they came through," she recalls. "I'm hoping they ask me to do that again because that was really fun!"
