Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. A new JW Marriott Hotel will be providing travelers with new options in Dallas. The new hotel will open in the city's Arts District in Spring 2023. There will be 267 rooms, three restaurants, and a cocktail lounge on the hotel's 23 floors. Guests will have access to all of the district's restaurants, venues, and art. (CW33 Dallas)
  2. A new study by WalletHub using the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that Dallas' inflation rose by 9.4 percent last month. The spike means that the Dallas area ranks fifth among the country's metro areas in inflation. Phoenix, Arizona was ranked in the first spot on the list. Click to review the full study.   3. Dallas City Council member Jesse Moreno has proposed a plan for the city to pay individuals to voluntarily surrender firearms. The proposal is meant to reduce shootings in the city. The Dallas Police Department chief reports that he has not seen any evidence that the proposal would be effective in reducing shootings. Moreno's inspiration is from the Fort Worth buyback program that was implemented in June. (The Dallas Morning News)
