Here are the top four stories today in Dallas:

  1. A man who stands accused of murdering 22 women is back on trial in Dallas. Billy Chemirmir has been charged with killing 22 women, 13 of whom were from the Dallas area, and has been convicted on one count of murder so far. He is now being charged with the death of 87-year-old Mary Brooks, who was murdered in 2018. Chemirmir is already facing one life sentence; if convicted, this would he his second. (WFAA.com)
  2. A man was shot in a Dallas carjacking on Sunday night. The shooting took place in the 3400 block of Forest Lane near Webb Chapel Road. Two individuals in black masks demanded the victim turn over his vehicle. At some point during the altercation, one of the suspects shot the victim twice before driving off with his vehicle. The victim is currently recovering in the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. (WFAA.com)
  3. According to the annual J.D. Powers study, Dallas Love Field ranks as the third best large airport in the entire country. It ranked closely behind the top two winners: Tampa International Airport and Tampa Airport, Orange County. Despite overall dissatisfaction growing over the lack of parking and inflation occurring at airports across the country, Dallas Love Field came in with a score of 826 out of a possible 1,000. Tampa International Airport had a score of 846. (CW33 Dallas)
  4. Lottery fans in North and Central Texas might have a bit of extra luck to look forward to: two of the top prize-winning tickets the Saturday Cash Five drawing were sold in the area. The two tickets were Quick Picks for the Oct. 1 drawing – each worth $25,000. One winning ticket was sold at the Food Store on Colorado Street in Lockhart. The other ticket was sold at Corner Market on South 3rd Street. (CW33 Dallas)
