  1. The City of Dallas is renting fire trucks due to a shortage. Dallas Fire-Rescue reports a shortage of mechanics and issues securing replacement parts. The city has a large number of fire trucks that were damaged during the flooding last month. The Dallas City Council has amended the budget to add $1.1 million for equipment replacements. (NBC DFW)
  2. Yesterday was North Texas Giving Day. The day is meant to encourage North Texas residents to donate to organizations and causes that positively impact the community. Last year, the campaign raised more than $66 million for local charities. The community still has a chance to donate after North Texas Giving Day. (Fox 4 News)
  3. The Dallas ISD hired about 335 teachers under the June exemption. The exemption allowed the district to hire educators for secondary-level education without teaching certifications.
